Resident Wellness

Welcome to the first Wellness blog!

We will be updating this blog with past, present, and future wellness events, tips on staying well and avoiding burnout, and posting some great pictures from residency events.

In the past two months, we had a variety of fun residency events. First, we saw a lively game of soccer between faculty and residents (including some epic clashes between Dr. Taira and Dr. Cheffers). In the end, Dr. Tseng scored the winning goal in her first ever soccer debut and put the game to rest. Given the high demand for future matches, we will be organizing another one in the near future—keep your eye out for the next game!

We also had a well-attended mixer with the residents/medical students at Angel City Brewery and watched Dr. Mallon go undefeated in 3 straight chess matches. If there are any former chess club members or brave souls out there, he is up for a rematch at any point.

The end of the year also brings class bonding during resident retreats:

The PGY2s went to Cabo San Lucas for their resident retreat for some much needed R&R.

The PGY3s recently returned from their hyperbaric course in Catalina Island, which was followed by a spontaneous camping trip to the beautiful Malibu Creek State Park.

The PGY4s traveled to Three Rivers for their retreat, visiting Sequoia National Park and taking advantage of the nearby river.
