We’re back this week with some cards-related talks and another “PIMP” session!
First off, Dr. Ramin Tabatabai takes on the “monster topic” of atrial fibrillation. In the first half of the talk, he covers all the high yield background information we need for afib. In the second half, he guides us through a case of unstable afib.

Dr. Sanjay Arora followed up with another PIMP (Practice Improving Monthly Papers) session, covering the article, “Effectiveness of Patient Choice in Nonoperative vs Surgical Management of Pediatric Uncomplicated Acute Appendicitis,” published last month in JAMA Surgery.

We ended the day with Dr. Chris Walker’s talk on vasopressors, in which he reviews shock physiology, discusses the role of venous return in pressor function, and reviews commonly used pressors/inotropes and the approach to using them.
